Chinese Drywall and How The Obama Administration Can Solve Health Problems

It is really interesting that in the last 5 years, we as Americans had to endure all these Chinese import scares. These scares have been toxic toys for our children, tainted pet food that affected our pets and recently, toxic Chinese Drywall. I am very curious when the something is going to be done about this. The Chinese Drywall seems to be creating more problems that the rest of the imports.

 There are a lot of these homes that are from the post Hurricane Katrina when building materials were in short supply especially the New Orleans Area. It seems there was approximately 230,000 tons of Drywall that was imported from China during that time period. The hydrogen sulfide outgasses into the air of these homes. It is not life threatening, but it affects the homeowners living in these homes.

The contaminated drywall is affecting people with the following symptoms:

1. Sinus Irritation
2. Sore Throats
3. Coughing and Wheezing
4. Headaches and Burning Eyes
5. Respiratiory Problems

Due to poor Goverment Regulations regarding Chinese imports, it is a real problem for our citizens. The bad thing is, it cannot be repaired, only removed and replaced. It is expensive to remove an entire house of drywall that smells like sulfur. Even though there are class action suits against some of the importing companies such as Knauf Plasterboard Tianjin, Knauf Gips, and Taishan Gypsum, the homeowners are facing financial ruin. It has caused a mini real estate  crisis in an already financially plagued real estate industry.

In conclusion, Chinese Drywall is affecting Americans financially and healthwise due to poor Goverment Regulations concerning Chinese Imports. If the Obama Administrations wants to help people, these are the people to help. They need help now with the ever growing problem that sees no end in sight.
